About us...
Orpheus Books was established in 1992. Working from our base in Witney, near Oxford, England, we have established close ties with leading publishers all over the world. Our books have been published in numerous languages, including all the major European languages, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Arabic, and many others.
From small beginnings, Orpheus has become one of the world's foremost creators of non-fiction books for children. Our reputation has been built on the highly innovative nature of our concepts, our unusual and imaginative formats, and the superb quality of our illustrations. We have also recently expanded our list to include a number of unique fiction and crossover titles.
We are always planning new projects, many of which are not included on this website or in our catalogue. Nicholas Harris, Director
Nicholas has been writing, editing and designing children's non-fiction books for rather longer than he cares to remember. In a conversation with Nicholas, you'll be amazed to find just how many different angles there are for another new book on dinosaurs, space, castles...

Sarah Hartley, Director
Sarah is never happier than when her office is strewn with boxes of samples, plotter proofs, artwork boards... which is a good thing, as her role covers every aspect of the business: creative, production, design, IT, finance, rights, recruitment. If there's anything you need sorted, ask Sarah.

Erica Williams,
Rights Manager
Erica made a beeline to England from her native America when she heard about a job going at Orpheus, and now fronts the company's rights sales. When she's not bossing everyone around in the run up to the bookfairs, she spends her time translating our books into 'American'.

Katie has a key role in nearly everything going on here at Orpheus. From early creative musings, planning and production, through to the freshly-minted end product, she also keeps us all organised, carefully monitoring the company's finance as she goes.

Project Editor
Ruth is always busy creating a variety of new books for Orpheus. After completing our newest 16-volume reference series this summer, she is our resident expert in astronomy, ancient history, animals, geography and more.
